Woodinville: More Than a Hound Dog

Elvis Presley set the words "You're Nothing But a Hound Dog", to music. The city of Woodinville sets the words to a howling success. Each year, on April Fool's Day, Basset Hounds put on their best Spring finery and march down NE 175th Street to the joy of children young and old.

Woodinville is a very special community. Your Woodinville Realtor can probably tell you where to get a Basset Hound or two for your majestic suburban compound. But, where else can you lie in the grassy splendor at a European-style winery watching a first class concert under the summer evening sun, and then take a hot air balloon ride above the majestic Woodinville Real Estate unfolding in the Cascade foothill valley below?

The community in far-north King County has grown beyond the wooded logging town that attracted its first European settlers. In the world's Enological community, Woodinville wines have drawn increasing fame. Just a couple of decades ago, a commercial for Chateau St. Michelle featured a wine taster remarking: "Woodinville? Isn't that a suburb of California?"

Woodinville remains a bedroom community for the nearby communities of Redmond and Kirkland. In addition to its number of summer attractions, it is a gateway to winter sports at Stevens Pass and the Bavarian community of Leavenworth. Woodinville has its own distinct downtown shopping core that includes the outdoor Town Center shopping mall.

The city shares the prestigious Northshore School District with its neighbor Bothell. Like Bothell, the community spills over the King County line into Snohomish County to the north.
