It is not quite Silicon Valley, but Seattle Eastside has become the center of a growing "Silicon Forest". Seattle residents now cross Lake Washington for jobs at some of America's best known high tech companies, beginning with Microsoft, the world's largest software developer. Microsoft has spun off countless smaller companies, such as Expedia and Wallop Corp. It is also the home of Nintendo of America, the U.S. arm of the internationally known game developer. The Eastside is connected to Seattle by two bridges across Lake Washington, including the opening leg of Interstate 90 that travels from Seattle to Boston. Its residents include some of the best known entrepreneurs in the world, such as Microsoft founders Bill Gates and Paul Allen. From Mercer Island to Bothell, you will find a forest of green surrounded by mountains, interrupted only by manicured gardens and well-landscaped developments.
